Western Front – Chelsea

Founders Dennis A. Benzan and Marvin E. Gilmore Jr. launched Western Front in 2020 through Massachusetts’ economic empowerment licensing program, according to the Harvard Square Business Association. The Globe’s December 2020 report found that the Chelsea shop had hired several Chelsea residents and described a front lobby, spacious showroom, background reggae, hip-hop and jazz, plus displays of local art. Those details connect the founders’ public mission to things a visitor can recognize: local hiring in the staff story and local work on the walls. Benzan, identified by the Globe as the firm’s CEO, said the goal was to be active in Chelsea and help create jobs.
