SunnyDayz’s defining feature is the project’s scale: the Daily Hampshire Gazette reported a three-building site spanning retail, indoor cultivation, and manufacturing on 5 of the company’s 28 acres. Plans called for a 3,539-square-foot retail building, a 26,705-square-foot cultivation facility, and a 5,000-square-foot manufacturing space. For shoppers, the retail operation was designed as one part of a broader production site—not a stand-alone storefront.
The Greenfield Recorder reported that co-owner Ken Bouquillon described SunnyDayz as a “single-source company” intending to produce its own products rather than bring them onto the site; some products were also planned for delivery to dispensaries elsewhere in Massachusetts. That proposed model puts the retail counter inside a larger production plan. The path through town review was not frictionless: the Planning Board asked for more specificity and questioned a traffic analysis based on 2016 counts. Later, the Daily Hampshire Gazette reported that SunnyDayz had lost its testing-lab tenant but had erected the retail and manufacturing buildings and begun interior build-outs. The company said building-code requirements with the South Deerfield Fire District remained its final hurdle before finishing construction and seeking a certificate of occupancy.
