In October 2020, Waltham contractor Vantage Builders announced it had completed GreenStar Herbals' first recreational cannabis dispensary: a 13,000-square-foot store at 76 Pleasant St. in Dracut, opened October 5, 2020, inside a historic mill building, with Caveney Architectural Collaborative on the design. Shops in Chelsea and Maynard, that announcement said, were planned to follow. GreenStar owner Tom Morey said of the Dracut site, "This is a historic building where supplies for World War II were produced." The Maynard shop now carries the Rise name: a Green Thumb Industries announcement carried by finance.yahoo.com, dated September 1, 2021, said the company had acquired GreenStar Herbals, Inc., which then owned and operated two adult-use retail locations in Massachusetts. A Green Thumb announcement carried by nasdaq.com describes the Chicago-headquartered company as owner and operator of the Rise stores, with brands including RYTHM, Dogwalkers and incredibles.
